Scot has over 40 years of audit and accounting experience gained with audit organizations. He has operated a diversified governmental practice relating to federal, states, counties, cities, schools, colleges, Single Audits of not-for-profits and governmental entities, governmental software development and consultation on other miscellaneous entities. Scot has been involved as a presenter at conferences with various organizations for many years. He has extensively worked in Federal, State, and Local government and auditing standards committee activities, including serving on multiple committees and boards with GPAC, PEEC, PCPS, KSCPA, MAIGAF, KMAAG, and GFOA to list a few. He is an Associate member of the Kansas Banker’s Association and very active in his community and church. Scot has been a board member and huddle leader for FCA since 1997, inspiring and encouraging young athlete’s faith.

Prior to opening Loyd Group on January 1, 2022, Scot was a Member/Owner with the firm Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC of McPherson, Kansas since January 1 1990. From June 1986 to December 1989, Scot was a staff accountant/manager with this same firm. Previously, Scot was a staff accountant with the firm of Yerkes and Michels, CPA’s in Independence, Kansas from May 1983 to June 1986. He was also an intern with Yerkes and Michels, CPA’s for the summer of 1982. Scot graduated from Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS in 1983 with a B.A. in Accounting.

Christina J. Henson, CPA, CGMA

Senior Manager

Christina has over 20 years of audit and accounting experience and specializes in local government auditing and the related Single Audits associated with the entities. Previously at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC, Christina joined Scot in forming Loyd Group, LLC with her vast knowledge and expertise. Entities she focuses on include community colleges, school districts and cities. She also is involved in several audits for not-for-profit engagements, including multiple foundations related to community colleges. Christina’s work consists of managing the audits and client consultation. Christina earned a Master’s degree in Accounting from Kansas State University in 2001 and her CPA license in 2004. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of CPAs.

John Regier, CPA

Audit Manager

⁠John Regier has recently joined the Loyd Group, LLC as an Audit Manager in June 2023. With a diverse background in auditing and finance, John brings valuable experience from his previous roles. At Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk, & Loyd LLC (2014-2018), he successfully collaborated with Government Entities as an auditor and budget team member. Subsequently, as the Director of Finance for Derby Public Schools (2018-2023), John gained comprehensive knowledge of the intricacies involved in overseeing financial operations within a government organization.

Having completed his Bachelors of Business Administration with a focus on accounting and finance in May 2014, John further strengthened his expertise by obtaining his Certified Public Accountancy license in May 2017. His educational background and professional achievements have equipped him with a deep understanding of the necessary requirements to conduct efficient audits, while also recognizing the unique challenges faced by government entities in meeting the expectations of their constituents.

Hope Rein, CNC

Hope started with Loyd Group, LLC when the firm was established January, 1st 2022 after starting her career in the audit area with Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC in 2016. Her experience includes audits of school districts, private and community colleges and cities. She is an Associate Member of Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Graduating from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS, Hope earned her B.A. in Accounting in 2016.

Carlotta Sunderland

Senior Associate

Carlotta started as an advisory and governmental audit team member with Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC in 2020. As of January 2022, she continues this work at Loyd Group, LLC. Her experience includes audits of counties, cities, and not for profits. She works on consulting and supporting 20+ county and city clients across Kansas of all sizes at the Loyd Group, LLC. Core of this work includes assessing, and designing internal controls, as well as addressing compliance questions, aiding long-term planning, and providing support for reporting and audit requirements. She also provides assistance with municipal budgets. Carlotta graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Hamburg, Germany, and Master of Science in Politics, Economics, and Philosophy from the University of Hamburg, Germany. She has additional graduate accountancy education from Washburn School of Business and Kansas State University.

Cindy Ames

Associate

Cindy has been with the Loyd Group, LLC from the time the firm began in January 2022. With her extensive background in office administration and finance related fields, she originally joined the team in an administrative role. With the continued growth of the Loyd Group, and her desire to expand her knowledge, Cindy has now moved to the Audit side as a staff Associate. Cindy earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Management and a 2nd Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. She has continued to expand her knowledge over the years, taking college level course in areas of interest.

Emily Mankins

Associate

Emily became a valued member of the Loyd Group, LLC in September 2022, bringing with her a wealth of experience from the business and accounting industry. Her professional journey commenced at Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, LLC in 2018, where she honed her skills in client account services, taxation, and payroll. Transitioning to the Loyd Group, Emily has redirected her focus towards audit procedures, budget, and client consulting. Equipped with a Bachelor of Accounting from Friends University, she supplements her academic achievements with firsthand knowledge gained as a small business proprietor.

Tiffany Jeffrey

Tiffany Jeffrey joined the Loyd Group, LLC in January 2023. With her experience and passion to help others, she works within the consulting and auditing departments of the firm. Previously she worked for twelve years in the local government sector. Tiffany completed the Hugo Wall School of Public Affairs Municipal Clerks Certification Institute in November 2017 and received her Certified Municipal Clerk certification in August 2021. She brings a great knowledge and understanding of the day-to-day functions of local government to the firm.

Baily Ruxlow

Audit Assistant

Joining Loyd Group, LLC in January 2022, shortly after the firm began, Baily Ruxlow works in auditing as an Associate. Baily earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from St. Cloud Technical and Community College, St Cloud, MN in 2015. She was an associate at an accounting firm in St Cloud upon graduation doing individual taxes and payroll. She then returned to McPherson, KS where she was a receptionist at a local accounting firm before joining Loyd Group, LLC.

Melissa England

HR & Administration Manager

Melissa joined Loyd Group, LLC as the Human Resource and Administration Manager in March 2022. Having worked mostly in banking at First National Bank of Hutchinson and Central Bank and Trust, she is very familiar with the administrative side of business which includes discretion and confidentiality for both clients and employees. Melissa’s work consists of designing, implementing, and administering HR functions such as employee benefits, compensation and payroll, staffing, employment negotiations, federal and state law regulations, company policies and various other business functions. Melissa earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Wichita State University, Wichita, KS 2021 with a Major in Human Resource Management and Minor in Healthcare Management.

Nancy Bieberly

Associate

Nancy Bieberly has been with the Loyd Group, LLC as an Accounting Associate since February 1, 2022. Having worked in the mortgage industry for the past twelve years, Nancy assisted in processing personal mortgage loans from the initial lending stage through closing. As an Accounting Associate, Nancy gathers data, sets up spreadsheet analyses, works with the clients on audit testing to accomplish the end goal of having enough information accumulated so our accountants can then perform the respective audit in a timely and accurate manner. Nancy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Language with a minor in Political Science from Fort Hays State University in 1988. She also has accumulated 30 hours towards a master’s degree in international relations.

Lauren Janzer, CPA

Associate

Lauren Janzer has been at Loyd Group, LLC as a part-time Associate since May 2022. Previously she worked for SJHL since her internship in college. Her specialties include payroll and QuickBooks knowledge as she worked in the CAS department. Lauren wears many different hats at the firm. She works in the budget department, works on the firm’s finances, and other agreed upon procedures. Lauren earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance from McPherson College. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of CPAs.
